New Strategic Supreme Council Leads Phi Sigma Sigma
Elkridge, Maryland (August 9, 2007) – Phi Sigma Sigma is pleased to announce its 2007-2009 Supreme Council and the adoption of a new, strategic focus for the Fraternity - two highlights from its recent biennial convention in Orlando, Fla.
The newly streamlined board of directors - resulting from the recommendations of a two-year study by a special task force on organizational effectiveness - gives Phi Sigma Sigma an even stronger, more visionary leadership team focused entirely on building a better future for the Fraternity and providing outstanding service to its international membership of collegians and alumnae.
Convention delegates voted to adopt the proposed reorganization, poising Phi Sigma Sigma for greater success as it approaches its Centennial in 2013. Specifically, delegates approved replacing the previously task-focused Supreme Council with a seven-member strategic leadership board, including four new generalist "director" positions. Day-to-day operations of the Fraternity will be managed by various standing committees and project task forces overseen by Headquarters staff and volunteers.
"With these changes in place, we're ready to take Phi Sigma Sigma to the next level," said Grand Archon Sandy Grossman. "Our work in recent years has made our Fraternity extremely goal-oriented, highly professional and even more effective and vibrant. Our next step is to secure the future of Phi Sigma Sigma for generations to come through innovation and strategic planning, and I am confident our newly installed board is more than equal to the task."
Phi Sigma Sigma's 2007-2009 Supreme Council includes:
- Grand Archon: Sandy Grossman, Gamma Nu (Rutgers University-New Brunswick)
- Grand Vice Archon: Pamela Downey, Theta (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
- Grand Vice Archon-Finance: Melanie Boone, Beta Rho (Drexel University)
