Twin Ideals Fund - Hurricane Katrina Relief

Dear Sisters:

For over ninety years, the women of Phi Sigma Sigma have committed our lives to our founding sisters’ twin ideals of the alleviation of world’s pain and the brotherhood of man. In light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina to the Gulf Coast of the United States, these ideals serve as our call to action.

After the September 11, 2001, attacks, the Foundation established a Twin Ideals Fund dedicated to serving the needs of disaster victims. Earlier this year, the fund was used to finance aid for the victims of last year’s tsunami in Southeast Asia. Effective today, the Twin Ideals Fund will be utilized to serve the victims of Hurricane Katrina. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane 2005 Relief Fund. Each Supreme Council officer and Foundation director is making a personal donation to the fund to initiate our efforts. We ask all the sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma to join us in collecting funds for this incredibly urgent and important cause. The need for emergency shelter, food, water and health care is staggering. The number of refugees is unheard of in America’s history. The devastation to this region is unprecedented.
